• Painful Shoulder: What Cause Them


    Shoulder pain is a common complaint that may be caused by different conditions. It is important to make an accurate diagnosis to know what causes the shoulder pain symptoms in order t gain the most appropriate treatment.

    Shoulder pain is caused by different conditions. One is adhesive capsulitis that is alternatively called as frozen shoulder. In the presence of pain and stiffnes, stretching exercise is helpful.

    Rotator cuff tendonitis which is a condition also called as shoulder bursitis causes shoulder pain symptoms when the tendons of the rotator cuff muscles are impinged on the shoulder joint. Once the tendons of the muscles becomes inflammed, swelling occurs and the pain limites the motion of the shoulder.

    Shoulder pain may be caused by a calcific tendonits. Pain due to the calcium deposits on the shoulder joint limits the shoulder motion. The amount of calcium deposit will manifest symptoms that is equal to the extent of its calcium formation.

    Traumatic injury to the shoulder will also cause pain on the shoulder. Oftentimes shoulder instability occur which causes pain during movement. One cause of shoulder pain, inflammation and limitation of motion is dislocation. This occurs when the arm bone gets disconnected from the scapula.

    Arthritis is one cause of shoulder pain with stiffness and limitation of motion. Any injury to the shoulder structures such as tendons, muscles, tissues causes inflammation always result to pain.

    Sometimes improper sleeping position may also cause joint stiffness and pain on the shoulder. If there is no underlying serious condition that cause shoulder pain, it will eventually subside with simple treatment of massage and shoulder exercise.

    Whatever the cause of your shoulder pain, rest is am important management to help relieve the discomforts and prevent aggravating the pain on the shoulder. Do not keep the shoulder immobile for a long period of time since it could encourage frozen shoulder to occur.

    Application of hot and cold compress provides better relief on spasm, swelling, and pain. Joint stiffness may be avoided with stretching on the muscles and tendons supporting the shoulder.

    Inflammation and swelling are best treated with anti-inflammatory medications. Because the shoulder is a highly mobile structure it is at risk to different conditions. Identification the underlying cause of your shoulder pain helps in providing the proper management for your pain and discomforts.
